| Combat Zone : Setapak 17/3/2006 |

The first ever Myradian Assault was held in Setapak on the 17th of March 2006. The event was jointly
organized by Team Cubetech and the Setapak Dotcom 8 Cyber Café. iPlay magazine was also there to
cover the event and also to distribute iPlay magazines free of charge.
Combat Zone Setapak saw a total of 7 teams turn up for the main event, which was of course to fight
for the Combat Zone Setapak Champions’ title. These 7 teams had players gathered from all over the
country, even players from Penang and Perak traveled to attend this event.
In addition to the 7 teams, other cyber café clientele and team supporters also turned up to cheer for the teams.
The boisterous and noisy crowd added to the atmosphere. All in all, there was only standing room as everyone
was tuned in on the action that was taking place on centre stage.

The finals were a nail biting finish between Dotcom8’s very own DOA team sMc1, and the IS1 DOA team from the
re-established IS clan. The Captains, sMcQinQin and ISgareth86, decided before hand that the map was to be the
quick and adrenaline charged Ancient Temple. sMc1 raced to a 3 – 0 before IS1 staged an amazing late fight
back that saw IS1 finish the first half 4 – 6. The 2 teams switched sides and the second half was a quick affair with sMc1 scoring 1 point to IS1 with 5 points. The total score was sMc1 5 points and IS1 with 11 points to win the game. At last, IS1 won the championship title with 11 points and sMc1 with 5 points.
The Golden Bullet was awarded to sMcChunwei from sMc1, who was the top gun of the competition by
having a whopping personal kill score of 63 kills through out the competition. This averages at about
8 kills per game!

In addition to the main event, the organizers also provided a sumptuous dinner for the players before
the games started and throughout the event. The phrase ‘… eat rice now, eat bullet later…‘ was repeated
more than once during dinner Also, a spontaneous DOA Game knowledge contest was held and exclusive
DOA merchandise was given out to the lucky winners.
More importantly, players finally got to meet the faces behind the DOA game IDs and also to meet up with
at least one DOA Game Master. After the prize giving, the teams put down their weapons and the ensuing
mamak session at the nearby teh tarik stalls was proof that online games can bring people together. Players
made new friends there and promised each other that they would meet up again at the next event. |
